- Part-time External candidates (PEC)
- Full-time Self-Financed candidate (FSF)
- Full-time Study Leave candidate (FSL).
Eligibility Criteria for SVNIT Surat PhD Admission 2023-24 (Spring Semester)
- Master’s Degree in the relevant area of research with at least a second class with a minimum of 60% (CGPA 6.0) or equivalent for open/open-EWS/OBC candidates and 55% Marks (CGPA 5.5) for SC/ST/PwD Candidates.
- Full time Institute Research Scholars (FIR) taking admission in PhD programs in Engineering, Sciences, English and Management should have qualified GATE/NET/CAT exams at least once, in his/her academic career.
- Student of full-time MTech Programme at the SVNIT willing to change over to a PhD Programme of the Institute may be permitted to do so in the beginning of the second year provided they obtained a CGPA of 8.0 or above after having registered for the full credits of course work in each of the first and second semesters of M.Tech. program.
- Candidates having qualified Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology from Institute of National Importance including CFTI with an exceptionally good academic record in prescribed discipline will also be considered for direct admissions to a PhD program on following conditions-
- Candidate should have CGPA 8.0 / equivalent marks or higher
- Candidate should have a valid GATE score and should be in top 15% scorer of his/her related branch.
- Final Selection will be through written test/Presentation/Interview in the department

SVNIT Surat PhD Admission 2023-24 (Spring Semester) Application Process
- Candidates can apply online through SVNIT official website.
- Read the instruction given there carefully before filling application form.
- Applicants may apply for multiple programmes. Separate registration form and application fee is required for each programme.
- After completion and submission of the online form, filled form in PDF format will be generated.
- On the day of interview and or written test, the shortlisted candidates should bring a printed copy of the on-line filled form along with all the necessary documents in original and a set of duly self-attested photocopies of all such documents.
- The exact time and venue for PhD interview will be notified along with the list of the shortlisted candidates.
