Eligibility Criteria for Bundelkhand University Jhansi PhD Admission 2023-24
- Master’s degree in the corresponding subjects from any recognized institute or university with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- The candidates of the SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled category will be offered the relaxation of 5% in the marks.

Admission Process
The University shall admit Ph.D. students through an entrance test named as “Bundelkhand University Common Entrance Test” (BU-CET)” for Ph.D. admission.
Exemptions from the Entrance Test
The following categories of candidates shall be exempted from the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the Ph.D. program:
- Regular teachers of the University, its constituent’s college or a college affiliated/associated to the University, who have completed their probation period successfully.
- The SFS teacher of University Campus who have completed 5 years of service with at least one research publication.
- International students (including NRIs) which shall be subject to the general rules framed by the Government of India from time to time and as applicable to the University with regards to the admission, fees etc.
- All candidates who qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR-NET (including JRF)/GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holder/ ICAR NET (including JRF).
Entrance Exam Details
- Entrance Test which will contain two papers.
- Each paper comprise 100 MCQ type questions of 2 marks each (maximum 200 marks).
- There shall be negative marking. On each wrong answer, 1/2 mark will be deducted.
- The minimum qualifying marks for the Entrance Test shall be 50 percent marks in total aggregate of first and second paper.
- Provided that a relaxation of 5% of marks i.e.45% shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination conducted by the University.
- The Entrance Test shall be conducted ordinarily in the Bundelkand University campus at Jhansi.
- The University shall arrange for an interview/viva-voce for both type of candidate which shall include Presentations on the research interest/area. For this, there shall be maximum of 30 marks.

Preparation of Academic Merit
University shall grant Registration/Admission to the candidate for the Ph.D. program on the basis of academics and marks of interview after approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
Academic merit shall be prepared as follows:
- 25 % of the Undergraduate percentage.
- 50 % of the Postgraduate percentage.
- Additional weightage, maximum of 10 marks, shall be given to the following candidates.
- JRF- 10 marks
- Inspire- 10 marks
- GATE or GPAT with more than the score of 95 percentile- 10 marks.
- Candidates working in Research Project – 05 Marks
- Interview 30 Marks
Note:- Scholars who are exempted from the Entrance Test and the candidates qualifying the Entrance test both have to go through the process of Academic Merit as already mentioned above.
