Phase I – Written Test
Online Applications are invited from the intending eligible candidates for appearing in the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT), 2023 (Phase I, Written Test) scheduled on 26.08.2023 (10:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m) for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes in the session 2023-2024 in the following subjects:

Phase II – Interview
The DURAT 2023 appeared Candidates:
- The following candidates that have appeared in DURAT 2023 are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. Programme: The Qualifying Marks in DURAT 2023 (Phase-I: Written Test) is 50%. However, candidates belonging to the reserved categories of SC/ST/OBC/Persons with disability (PWD) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) shall have 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks in DURAT 2023.
- The applicants shall have to login to the Admission Portal given on the website https://dibru.ac.in using the same Mobile Number and Password provided during online application for DURAT 2023 and click on the Apply button corresponding to “Ph. D. Admission”. After filling-up the online form, they need to click the “Submit” button and make a payment of Rs 750/- through online mode. Once the Application Fee is successfully paid, they will be able to download the submitted Application Form and take a Printout.
- The applicants need to submit the Print-Copy of the application form along with the following self- attested documents at the Office of the Department Centre of Studies concerned where they wish to apply for the Ph.D. Programme –
- a) Copies of the Pass Certificates and Mark Sheets from HSLC to Master’s Degree.
- b) Copy of the DURAT 2023 Score card.
- c) Caste Certificate [in case the Candidate belongs to SC/ST/ and OBC/MOBC (Non-Creamy layer)] or Certificates related to PWD and EWS.
- d) No Objection Certificate (in case the Candidate is employed).
The DURAT Exempted Candidates:
- DURAT is exempted for the candidates who have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET-JRF and/or having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies and/or have passed M.Phil. programme (in regular mode and in the concerned subject).
- The DURAT Exempted Candidates shall have to register and login to the Admission Portal given on the website https://dibru.ac.in and click on the Apply button corresponding to “Ph. D. Admission”. After filling-up the online form, they need to click the “Submit” button and make a payment of Rs 750/- through online mode. Once the Application Fee is successfully paid, they will be able to download the submitted Application Form and take a Printout.
- The applicants need to submit the Print-Copy of the application form along with the following self- attested documents at the Office of the Department/ Centre of Studies concerned where they wish to apply for the Ph.D. Programme-
- a) Copy of the Award Letter (in case of CSIR/UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates and/or candidates having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies).

Application Against Vacant Seats for Exempted Category
The intending candidates who have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET-JRF and/or having Research Fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies may apply for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes against the vacant seats in the following Departments and Centres of Dibrugarh University for the session 2023-2024-

Candidates are hereby informed to apply online through the portal given on the DU website as “Apply for Ph. D. (CSIR/UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates)”. The online portal shall remain active from 17/01/2024 to 28/01/2024 (till 11:59 pm). During online application, they will be required to pay an application fee of Rs. 750/- through online mode. After successful submission of application form and payment of the fee, the candidates need to take a print-out of the application form and the hard-copy of the application form along with the following self-attested documents needs to be submitted at the Office of the Department/ Centre of Studies concerned on or before 02.02.2024 during office hours-
- a) Copy of the Award Letter (in case of CSIR/UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates and/or candidates having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies).
- b) Copies of the Pass Certificate and Mark Sheets from HSLC to Master’s Degree.

Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate intending to appear in the DURAT 2023 for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) shall have Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks in or equivalent Grade point. Relaxation upto 5% marks for the candidates belonging to SC, ST and Differently-Abled category.
- DURAT is exempted only for those having CSIR/UGC NET-JRF and/or having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi- Government funding agencies and/or have passed MPhil Programs (in regular mode and in the concerned subject).
Application Process
- The candidate shall be required to register in the DURAT Portal given in the website www.dibru.ac.in by entering Full Name, Password and a Mobile Number. The candidate will get an OTP in the Mobile Number which is to be entered for Activation.
- After Activation, the candidates shall be required to login by entering his/ her Mobile Number and password. The candidate can then apply for appearing in the DURAT by selecting the desired subject.
- The applicants shall be required to pay the Application Fee of Rs. 750/- only through the online payment gateway by using Debit (ATM) Card/Credit Card/ Internet Banking during the submission of the online Application Form. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
- The applicants can save and review the information entered before submission, which can be edited on subsequent login. However, after submission, editing of information shall not be possible.
- The Candidates should take a print out of the Payment Receipt, Application Form and Admit Card to produce before the relevant departmental Office of the University whenever asked to do the same. The candidate must bring the printed copy of the Admit Card to the Examination Centre.
Selection Procedure
- The DURAT shall comprise of two phases-
- Phase I: Written Test (in a single paper for 100 marks) with 70% weightage.
- Phase II: Viva-Voce to be conducted by the Department/ Centre for Studies concerned with 30% weightage.
- The List of the provisionally Selected Candidates shall be prepared by the Department/ Centre for Studies concerned combining the performances of the candidates in both Phase I and Phase II.
- The admission of the selected candidates shall be done as per the information of the subsequent notifications. The requisite Admission Fee, Course Fee shall have to be paid within the stipulated date(s).
- Statutory Reservation Policy shall be followed wherever applicable.
- The selection of candidates for admission shall be purely provisional and confirmation of seat is subject to verification of original documents by the concerned offices.
DURAT 2023 Details
- DURAT shall be conducted to select eligible candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programmes of Dibrugarh University. The number of seats available in the Subject concerned shall be ascertained by the Departmental Research Committee concerned.
- A candidate intending to appear in the DURAT shall be required to obtain at least 55% marks OR equivalent grade point in the Master’s degree, in which he/ she intends to appear in the DURAT.
- Candidates belonging to the reserved categories of SC/ST and the Differently Abled Persons, shall have 5% relaxation in marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade in the qualifying degree.
- The DURAT shall comprise of two phases-
- Phase I: Written Test (in a single paper for 100 marks) with 70% weightage.
- Phase II: Viva-Voce to be conducted by the Department/ Centre for Studies concerned with 30% weightage.
DURAT (Phase I) Written Test
- The DURAT (Phase I) shall be conducted in a single paper of two parts-
- (a) 25% on Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude (Group A) and
- (b) 75% from Core Course Components of the subject concerned (Group B).
- The paper shall carry 100 marks and the duration of examination shall be of Three (3) hours.
- The pattern of the Question Papers –
- Multiple Choice Objective Type = 10 Marks from Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude and 10 Marks from the Core Course Components of the subject concerned. There will be negative marking of 25% of allotted marks.
- Descriptive Type Questions= 15 Marks from Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude and 65 Marks from the Core Course Components of the subject concerned.
