Integrated PhD Program Offered
IISER Pune offers integrated PhD (i-PhD) as a research programme with a blend of course work (2 years) and research projects to students who have completed a Bachelors’ degree in any branch of science.
On successful completion, students will be awarded both a Masters of Science and a PhD degree.

Eligibility Criteria
A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC, ST and PwD candidates) in B.Sc. or B.Tech./B.E.
(Students currently in the final year of their BSc/BTech/BE programs are welcome to apply. If the candidate is shortlisted after the final interviews a provisional admission will be offered. The final admission is subject to the condition that all of the above eligibility criteria are satisfied.)
Note that additional criteria, beyond the eligibility criteria, is likely to be imposed when shortlisting candidates for the interview.
Additionally, the candidate must satisfy the following mandatory criteria:
- the candidate should have a rank equal to 500 or better (625 or better for candidates in the reserved categories) in JAM (Physics) or JEST IPhD (Physics). The rank should be valid at the time of admission in August 2024.
Interview
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for an interview to be conducted in-person at the IISER Pune campus.
- The final selection to the Integrated PhD programme will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.

IISER Pune Integrated PhD Mathematics Admission 2024
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC, ST and PwBD candidates) in any Bachelor’s degree in related branches satisfying the above criteria of marks can apply.
Additionally, the candidate MUST satisfy any ONE of the following criteria:
- Appeared for NBHM Master’s scholarship written exam in 2024 and was shortlisted in NBHM Master’s Interview Shortlist (MIS).
- Appeared for the JAM 2024 exam in MA or MS only.
(*Validity: The scores/ranks MUST be valid at the time of admission.)
For all the national eligibility examinations which provide a common rank / score, the cut-off rank / score for shortlisting for the Interviews for the reserved categories shall be lowered to 1.25 times the General category rank / score.
Shortlisted applicants will have to clear a two-stage written examination to be held on the IISER Pune campus. Students clearing the written examinations will be called for an online interview. Candidates who clear the NBHM MIS interviews (Feb-March 2024) do not have to take the written examination and would be directly invited for the online interview.

The candidate should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in BSc or B.Tech/BE.
Those students who are currently in the final year of the graduate programs are welcome to apply. If shortlisted after the final interviews, the final admission will be subject to the condition that the above criteria are met.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in BSc or B.Tech/BE.
Those students who are currently in the final year of the graduate programs are welcome to apply. If shortlisted after the final interviews, the final admission will be subject to the condition that the above criteria are met.
AND
The candidate MUST have any one of the following:
- The candidate should have a rank upto 500 (including 500) (600 for reserved category candidates) in JAM (Physics). The score/rank should be valid at the time of the interview in June.
- INSPIRE-PhD fellowship (should preferably possess provisional selection letter for PhD fellowship at the time of personal interview)
Additional criteria well beyond the minimum eligibility criteria will be used for shortlisting the candidates to be called for the interview.

Eligibility Criteria
Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in B.Sc. [any specialization] or B.Tech., and qualifying additional criteria as given below can apply for Integrated PhD program in Mathematics.
AND
Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview based on their score/ ranking in:
- JAM 2021 in MA or MS only (Rank up to 500 for unreserved category and rank up to 600 for reserved categories) OR
- NBHM 2021
Candidates in the final year of their Bachelors degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the Bachelors degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission. (Tentatively scheduled to be commencing in August 2021)
Interview
Final selection to the programme will be based on performance of the shortlisted candidates in a personal interview to be held at IISER Pune tentatively in June 2021.
Based on the application form given below and the above listed criteria, applicants will be shortlisted for an interview.

Eligibility Criteria
Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in B.Sc. (General / B.Sc. majoring in Chemistry, Physics & Biology) and qualifying additional criteria as given below can apply for Integrated PhD Programme in Chemistry starting August 2021.
Candidates who are in the final year of qualifying degree, who have appeared/about to appear for the final exams can also apply for Integrated PhD programme. If selected for admission to the programme, the candidate will be given provisional admission subjected to completing the qualifying degree, as per the criteria specified above, before August 1, 2021.
Candidates with JAM (Chemistry 2021) rank 800 or less (960 or less for reserved category candidates) can apply for the Integrated PhD programme in Chemistry.
Interview
Final selection to the programme will be based on performance of the shortlisted candidates in a personal interview to be held at IISER Pune (in case of any unexpected circumstances not permitting an in-person interview, on-line interviews will be conducted) in June 2021.
Based on application form and the above listed criteria, applicants will be shortlisted for an interview.
Candidates shortlisted for the interview will receive a separate email to appear for the interview at the IISER Pune campus.
If the number of eligible applicants is more than what can be interviewed, additional cut off criteria may be used to shortlist from within the list of eligible applicants.
