IISc Bangalore BSc Research Program
The Indian Institute of Science, a leading institution of higher learning with a strong tradition of research, offers a Four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme which is designed as a balanced blend of core science and interdisciplinary topics to serve as a platform for attractive career opportunities in academia and industry.
Students who complete the requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree will have the option of getting a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.

Students specializing in any of the above disciplines will have to take a set of prescribed core and elective courses in the chosen discipline.
They will also take courses in engineering, humanities, and interdisciplinary areas for a well-rounded learning experience.
While a student specializes in a major discipline, he/she can also broaden his/her knowledge and skills by taking courses in other disciplines. Students who take a sufficient number of designated courses in a discipline other than their major will qualify for a “minor” in that discipline.
The combination of courses taken by a student will be listed in his/her final transcript.
Eligibility Criteria for IISc Bangalore BSc Research Admission 2024-25
Mandatory Educational Qualifications (Qualifying exam)
- Candidates who have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2023 and also those who are expecting to complete their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2024.
- The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam along with any other subjects.
- The candidates must have secured a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination (i.e.,10+2 or equivalent)
National Entrance Exam (i.e., Mode of Entry) Requirements
Selection will be based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations –
- JEE Main -2024
- JEE Advance-2024
- NEET(UG)-2024
- IISER Aptitude Test 2024
Note – Candidate must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned above, and the exam result must be valid as on 01 August 2024.

Step 1 – Filling of Online Application Forms
Candidates has to fill online application by accessing the IISc website at www.iisc.ac.in → Admissions → click Apply Online

Note –
Reservation for OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST/ Person with disability (PwD) and Kashmiri-Migrant (KM), Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu Families(Non Migrants) living in the Kashmir valley will be as per regulations of Government of India.
10 % Supernumerary Quota over and above the approved intake for the program will be provided to women candidates.
A minimum of “Pass Class” in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or equivalent) is required for SC/ST students.
Applicant applying under EWS/OBC(as per central list of OBC available at www.ncbc.nic.in) category must ensure that they are in possession of valid EWS/OBC-NCL Certificates issued after 01 April 2024 (i.e FY:2024-25) by 31 May 2024.

Scholarships
- All the students who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from the KVPY/INSPIRE/IISc Promotional Scheme(IIScP), depending upon their mode of entry.
- Scholarships from many Indian and multinational agencies and business houses are also available for meritorious students.
- The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarships agencies as per norms.
