- For Full-Time
The minimum duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 6 years for On-campus Research Scholars.
- For Part-Time
For Off-campus Research Scholars, the minimum duration is 4 years and the maximum duration is 6 years.

Eligibility Criteria for JAIN PhD Admission 2024 (Jan)
Candidates who have completed:
- A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution. The 4 yr / 8 semester Bachelor’s Degree programme should have been awarded not before June / July 2022
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
- Candidates who are qualified for CA or ACS or ICWA with basic degree / NDA / MBBS / are also eligible to register for Ph.D.
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National Students
Foreign/ NRI applicants / Applicants with a Masters’ degree from a foreign university must apply with an equivalence certificate of AIU along with the Online Application Form. Please route your applications through the International Students office ISSAC or write to g.suhasini@jainuniversity.ac.in
JAIN PhD Admission 2024 (Jan) Application Process
- Candidates have to apply online through official website of JAIN.
Application Fee
- Application Fee – INR RS. 1500/-
Admission Process
- Written Test and the Interview
- Candidates who have cleared NET/SLET/GATE with valid scores are exempted from the written test and they can attend the interview directly.
Selection Process
- Candidates will be called for the interview after qualifying the entrance test.
- The interview will be conducted by the Department Research Committee.
- The Interview will be based on the proposal / synopsis submitted by the candidates at the time of applying. The theoretical, conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills will be assessed.
- Based on the interview results selected candidates will be informed.
- The Department Research Committee will allocate Guides to the candidates after completion of admission process.
JAIN PhD Entrance Details
Test Pattern
Written test contains two parts –
| PART A – General Research Aptitude | PART B – Subject Specific |
| Current Affairs, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, A Test of Reasoning, Vocabulary, And English Skills. | The candidates have to appear for the subject for which they have applied. |
Note –
- Both the parts will carry 50 marks of Multiple Choice Questions.
- Candidates will have to score a minimum of 50% with Part A and B to qualify for the interview.
