Kolhan University PhD Admission 2022-23 Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree or equivalent professional degree with at least 55 % marks in aggregate or its grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade.
- Candidates who have cleared the M. Phil / M. Tech./M. E./M. S./M. D. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate; or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale in a grading system) and have successfully completed the M. Phil./ M. Tech./M. S. Degree shall be eligible to work towards the Ph. D.
- A relaxation of 5%, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as decided by the Commission from time to time.
Selection Process
Selection will be on the basis of KU PhD Entrance Test (KUPET) & interview.
Exemption From Entrance Test
Candidates fulfilling one of the following criteria shall be exempted from Ph. D. entrance test (KUPET)
- Completed an M. Phil. or equivalent Degree from any other recognized Universities in India as per the UGC guidelines from time to time.
- Qualified in GATE/SET/NET (JRF) Examination.
- Teachers, who are in service in the Kolhan University, may directly appear for interview.

Kolhan University PhD Entrance Test (KUPET) 2022 Details
Date of Examination – 03 Dec 2023
Duration – 3 Hour (11 AM to 2 PM)
Exam Centre – Chaibasa and/or Jamshedpur on the basis of strength of the Candidates. The centre will be notified at the time of issue of Admit Cards.
Syllabus
The exam consists of two papers:
- Paper-I: Compulsory
- Paper-II: Core paper
Syllabus will be as per CSIR/UGC NET Syllabus.
Patterns of Question Papers & Examination
The Examination is conducted for a total of 300 marks.
Paper-I:
- Number of Questions: 50
- Maximum Marks: 100
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Each Question Carries: 2 marks
- There is no negative marking for Paper-I.
Paper-II:
- Number of Questions: 100
- Maximum Marks: 200
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Each Question Carries: 2 marks
- There is no negative marking for Paper-II.
