IIST PG Admissions 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality – Applicant should be an Indian citizen.
Age limit: 32 years as on 02.05.2023
Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/Persons with disability (PD) category as per Government of India Orders.
Minimum Qualifications –
- B.E./B.Tech./Master of Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.50 out of 10 for General/ EWS & OBC category and minimum of 55% marks or CGPA 6.00 out of 10 for SC/ST&PD category. A valid score in GATE in relevant area as the case may be is essential.
- When CGPA & equivalent percentage are both provided in the mark list/certificate, CGPA alone would be considered for eligibility.

- Candidate can fill online application on the IIST official website.
- The applicants who wish to apply for more than one programme shall exercise their order of preference/option of Post Graduate Programmes, at the time of applying itself.
- Applicants can choose a maximum of Five preferences within or across all the departments. The preference once exercised shall be final

How to fill IIST PG Admissions 2023 Application Form?
Steps to fill the application form for IIST M.Tech and M.Sc, programs –
Step-1-New User Registration: To access it, the candidates will have to access the ‘Profile Registration’.
Step-2-Register for IIST PG Admission: In the ‘Profile Registration’, the candidates will have to submit the following details:
- Personal Detail
- Address
- Academic Details
- Score Details (like GATE Score)
- Experience Details
- Photograph and Signature
- Any Other Relevant Information.
After this, check all the details and if required make the necessary changes.
Once the Admission form is submitted successfully, a Registration Number and Password will be allocated to the candidates.

IIST PG Admissions Selection Criteria
For the M.Tech. Programmes offered by Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and M.Tech in Geoinformatics, candidates will be rank listed based only on the valid GATE score. An admission list would be prepared based on the rank list & available number of vacancies & preference given by the candidate.
The shortlist for online interview will be prepared based on GATE / JEST score for the M.Tech in Earth System Science & Master of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics programmes offered by Department of Earth & Space Sciences. The applicants who are shortlisted for these M.Tech./Master of Science programmes are required to appear for an online Interview. List of shortlisted candidates for online interview for those programmes will be displayed in the IIST website on 16 May 2023. Shortlisted candidates may download their online interview call letter from the portal.
Interview will be conducted through video conference mode.
A provisional admission list will be prepared based on the GATE score, interview score, number of vacancies & preferences given by the candidate.
Candidates who are employed in Government/Semi Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies need to produce a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” at the time of interview. For candidates who are employed and who apply to branches where there are no interviews, the NOC has to be submitted at the time of admission.
Scholarship
- M.Tech students with valid GATE score will receive scholarship through AICTE.
- For the students admitted for Master of Science programme, the scholarship will be paid by IIST.
